Dear MCCPS families,
Thank you for joining us for Curriculum Night. We loved having you in the building and sharing more about teaching and learning at MCCPS—we are so proud of the work happening here every day.
This week, students completed their baseline diagnostic assessments in math through the iReady platform. Next week, all students will complete ELA diagnostics using IXL. We’ve shifted to IXL for ELA because it provides more comprehensive data—particularly in writing and grammar—and offers more detailed reading results for those students who have already acquired foundational reading skills. You will receive both math and ELA reports, along with a cover sheet to help you interpret them, on Friday of next week. Please reach out with any questions. These assessments are important tools that help us adjust instruction to meet student needs.
On Monday, our PALS program (Personalized Accelerated Learning Support) will begin. PALS takes place three mornings a week and provides targeted support in either Math or ELA.
-
Math PALS: An opportunity for students to receive individualized, targeted support, either in a small group led by a teacher or through the personalized i-Ready MyPath program.
-
ELA PALS: Teacher-led sessions focused on informational texts, where students will participate in group discussions, explore text structures, and complete writing activities. PALS will address all domains of ELA—reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Finally, please mark your calendars: on Wednesday, October 8, our school will take part in an all-school field trip hosted by our partners at the Marblehead YMCA. It will be a day of fun, recreation, and community. Drop-off and pick-up will take place at the YMCA that day.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Stephanie Brant LICSW
