At MCCPS, the mission of the Food Services Department is to increase our student’s success by providing nutritionally balanced meals. Our team works together to develop and prepare all of our food from scratch using the best ingredients. This includes low-fat proteins, whole wheat grains, pastas as well as fresh fruits and vegetables that are sourced from local farmers throughout the school year. We are dedicated to making your child’s meal experience at school a positive one. We believe good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.
Nutrition By the Numbers
- 40% of daily nutrients for a child’s day comes from meals in school
- School meals are proven to support academic achievement, improve student health, and lower obesity rates
- Children consume more milk, fruits and veggies when participating in the NSLP
Birthday Treats
Birthdays are very exciting occasions for your children. MCCPS would like to celebrate their day with them and their fellow classmates. With state dietary regulations and concerns with various food allergies as well as the new protocols for safety concerns many public schools have eliminated the practice of celebrating completely. Our school would like to continue this tradition and we have found a good compromise in order to keep a safe environment for all students and we ask for our support with this policy. School policy does not permit the bringing in of any food items for birthdays and celebrations during school. However, we would like to give you the opportunity to order celebratory treats made from scratch by the Food Department. You can find out more here.
