We are so excited that you applied to our first entrepreneur fair on May 7th, 2023 hosted at Marblehead Community Charter Public School, located at 17 Lime Street in Marblehead, MA. We want to make sure that you have some information as you get ready for the big event.

We plan to hold a zoom call to answer any questions you may have. If you have any questions as the event gets closer, please don’t hesitate to email us:  jessicagelb1@gmail.com

Prior to the Event:

  1. Decide what items you are going to sell at the event and start making them.  You don’t want to leave it all until the night before so it would be great if you do a little at a time.  You will probably want to make between 30 and 50 products to sell.
  2. Make sure you price your items accordingly and clearly display the prices.  You may want to be flexible to negotiate your prices. It may help to do some comparison pricing to determine a reasonable price
  3. Think about how you want to set up your “booth” and be creative as you would like.
  4. Make signs for your booth and perhaps for your display (eg product pricing)
  5. Practice your sales pitch!  What will you say to customers? How will you get them to buy your products?
  6. No need to bring tables- we will provide them at the school.
  7. If you need an electrical hook up, please let us know in advance.
  8. Spread the word! Tell all of your family and friends to come to the event! The more people who come, the more customers you will have

Day of:

  1. You can arrive as early as 8:30am to set up your booth. All participants should arrive no later than 9:30am
  2. Bring all of your supplies with you.  You might want to do a practice set up at home to make sure you have everything you need.
  3. Make sure you bring some cash as change.  You will probably want to bring some $1.00 bills and some $5.00 bills.
  4. Bring something you will put your money in so that you can keep track of it.
  5. If you need to use the bathroom or go check out other booths, please have a parent stand at your booth. The student should do all of the selling.
  6. We are planning the event inside so we don’t need to worry about New England weather!
  7. You may want to bring lunch or snacks.  There will also be food to buy.
  8. Bring a water bottle!
  9. So you are aware, we will have judges come around and ask you questions and they may offer some business tips, too!
  10. Have Fun!

After the Event:

  1. Clean up your booth and remove all of your items.
  2. Sometimes kids like to “trade” their unsold items when the event ends, so have fun!
  3. Count your earnings.  Congratulate yourself on your first business experience!
