Anais Mitchell will perform at MCCPS!

Her performance will take place at MCCPS on Friday, May 6th from 1:00-2:00. 

Anais Mitchell wrote the folk opera called "Hadestown" and has recorded under  Ani Difranco's record label.

This performance is open to the public and all are welcome. This performance is brought to us by me&thee coffeehouse. 

MCCPS is now a part of Junior District! Junior district is an organization that features five ensembles: Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Mixed Chorus SATB, and Treble Chorus SSA. Both boys and girls will be eligible to audition for the Soprano and Alto parts. Students may audition for both the jazz band and one of the other groups (otherwise, students may not audition for more than one group). Students must pay the fee for both auditions.

Jr. District is highly competitive. It is wise to play/sing for more than one person (other than a private teacher). The more times the piece is performed in front of people, the more prepared students will be!

Auditioning for Junior District?  Here's what you need to do:

     * Visit www.northeastdistrict.org and read the handbook for  information

    * Tell Ms. Smith that you will audition and she will print your  registration form (registration due Dec. 19th, late registration is due Jan 8th, and there is on-site registration).

    * Prepare the audition piece and specified scales

    * Audition on Saturday, January 22, 2011

    * Be available for rehearsals

Remember, you may not audition with a Xeroxed copy of the music -- you must have the real thing.

Alice in Wonderland tickets are now on sale!

Purchse your tickets on the website, through Ms. Smith, or at the door.

$5 for students and $8 for adults

Performances are Friday June 18th at 6:30pm and

Saturday June 19th at 2:00pm.

Also, cast members need to remember that dress rehearsals are June14th-17th from 3:30-5:00pm and the cast party is Saturday, after the performance!

Just a reminder that the MCCPS band trip is this Friday, May 14th. We'll meet at 7am and return 8:30pm. Please be on time because we will leave promptly.
