Welcome to Foreign Language!
September 13, 2010
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Bienvenue & Bienvenido! Welcome to the Marblehead Community Charter Public School’s foreign language program! We look forward to including your child(ren) in our dynamic language program!
We are looking forward to working together this year to create a collaborative language environment. Often we will be teaching similar lessons in the different languages and will unite in our exhibition projects and workshops.
We are looking forward to working together this year to create a collaborative language environment. Often we will be teaching similar lessons in the different languages and will unite in our exhibition projects and workshops.
For the first few classes we will be co-teaching overall class organization and expectations. We will discuss the importance of learning a second language and address student and teacher expectations and learning goals for their language of choice. During the first week of classes students will be assigned a brief questionnaire to address their learning styles, challenges and goals.
Our Philosophy:
Our goal is to educate students in a new language and culture so that they may become knowledgeable and active members of a global society. Through language study we believe students develop sensitivity to other groups, gain insight into their own language and culture, understand the influence of other cultures on their society, and learn to be formidable participants in their diverse communities.
Online Resources:
A list of resources will be posted for student use in the near future.
Materials Needed:
Students will need a composition notebook (with no removable pages) and a language section in their binder.
We are excited to meet and work with your child(ren) as they begin their language journey! Please do not hesitate to contact either of us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

This site helps students practice new vocabulary by using online flashcards, and tests and lets you play "scatter" and "space race" games to see if you can beat the clock with timed memory activities. Click this link to find Senora Massanari-Sapp's "GROUP" which has preloaded vocabulary sets we have been working with in class!
This site uses pictures to help you memorize Spanish speaking regions, vocab for parts of the body, members of the family, colors, clothing, etc.
