  • Finding the right word at the right time
  • Eliminate words that are vague
  • Try more specific nouns and verbs instead of using adverbs and adjectives
  • Try to use words that communicate a mood
  • Avoid overused words (said, stuff, things)
  • Use a thesaurus to compare synonyms
  • Use a word that you understand the meaning
