Dear Favorite Student in the World,

I was thinking about doing a couple of Caroline B. Cooney books for next trimester’s book groups. I thought of doing The Face on the Milk Carton and maybe the sequel to that book. Are there other Caroline B. Cooney books you might recommend?

I am still making my way through Eragon. It is usually a book I keep at home. I read it at night before I go to bed. I’ve been a little tired the past few evenings, so I’ve managed to fall asleep only after reading a few pages.

I am only at the part where Eragon, the main character, is trying to keep his growing dragon a secret. I can’t imagine trying to keep a secret like that. He also figured out that there is a mental link between him and the dragon. He can “control” the dragon with his thoughts. I put control in quotes because the dragon seems like it has a mind of it’s own too. I enjoyed the way the author, Christopher Paolini, describes the growing link between Eragon and his dragon. I wonder if some situation in the future may test that bond that they have.

The title of your book seems to indicate some sort of calamity in the future. How do you like this story so far?

Sincerely,

Mr. Cronin
